Physical awareness

Yoga is one of the best forms of physical awareness exercise, as it links breath and movement to help students become more present in their bodies and their minds. When you know where your body is in space, you are better able to direct it to do what you want it to do. Yoga, breath work and mindfulness activities help students to deepen their connection to their body in order to become lifelong self-regulators.

 Self-awareness

The TYP guides students to build their inner awareness by offering them many ways to explore and regulate themselves. This awareness leads to a stronger sense of self-worth and personal identity that will enable them to manage their emotional, mental, spiritual and physical wellbeing now and into the future. As Rolf Gates famously said, Yoga is not a work-out, it is a work-in.

Social awareness

The TYP focuses on supporting students to study themselves. The better they understand their own bodies, emotions, and behaviour, the better equipped they will be to understand others. TYP assists students to build and maintain positive relationships with everyone in their lives, by understanding their similarities, and celebrating their differences. Yoga teaches us that we are one.

Teen yoga has been so great. I not only loved trying new things but really enjoyed the rest and breathwork in exam week. BTW Emily is the best teacher EVER!!
